Orientation for 08 Batch
With the intake of new batches to the faculties University Explorers' Club conducted several orientations for the 08 batch in the Faculty of Engineering & Faculty of Science promoting the club and the activities of a Hike Season. In next few weeks club hope to conduct Orientations in every other faculty in the university.

Annual Camp Fire 2008/2009
At the end of a Hike Season, Annual Camp Fire is the membership awarding ceremony of the UEC. Not like other societies of the University, UEC do not issue memberships at the very begining of a Hike Season. It's not necessary to have a membership for the new comers to participate in the UEC activities. But UEC membership will be awarded at the end of a Hike Season according to the performance of the new comers in a Hike Season.
Camp Fire for the Hike Season 2008/2009 was started on 01 st of May 2009 at 7.30 pm at the Upper Hanthana Lodge premises of University of Peradeniya. As the Chief guests of the event one of our senior member Deputy vice chancellor of the University Prof. Anura Wickramasinghe & Dr. Ashoka Dangolla was participated. Lot of Senior members of the UEC participated in this event to encourage new members. The event continued through out the night with fun. In this time also UEC awarded lot of membership for the new comers who performed well in the Hike Season.

Annual Get Together 2009
In each and every year large number of UEC members get together and share their experiances with the club. There will be not only members currently in the university, but also old UEC members also will be there for this occassion.The event is going through out whole night. Members will have the dinner prepared by themselves on early in the evining and then start to share the experiance and talk about "Manda Stories" in their times.This time it is going to be held at "Gal Bangalawa", University of Peradeniya on next saturday evining.
Commitee members will be highly appreciated all UEC members participation for this occassion.

Alagall Exploration
We had another remarkable event on last Week. That was the Alagalla Exploration. Our team, about 25 members went to Poththapitiya by bus from the University. We were lucky enough to hike on a picture-perfect day in january when the visibility was near 100% at the top of the mountain. The climate was perfect. Time was around 10 AM, when we start the Exploration. The whole trip, including a leisurely picnic at the top, took us two hours. We made our path back to University after having some fun time on top of the mountain peak.
I attended to a exploration after about 4 or 5 months and wanted to let you know readers what a pleasure it was to work with exploration(Hiking) and with UEC members.If you'll be able to join with UEC for a one hike, I'm sure you'll definitely recommend UEC to people looking for a society in the university of Peradeniya.

Orrientation Programe 2008
Fortunately I was able to participate Orrientaion programe held on last week at the University ground. This is the largest event which UEC members organize in a hike season. Lot of things to tell about orrientation programe.
This event is organized for School children who are willing to explore the nature and do adventure works. Actually this is a hiking competition for school children. This time about 70 school teams (about 800 childrens) were attended to this event. And another thing...
School from a very rooral area is selected and accompany there childrens to the university, day before to the orrientation programe and many many entertainment items are organized for them to enjoy. In the programe, they also make participate for the hiking competition and allow them to move with other students. All participants can be done events organized and add marks for their team. Finally a one team from boys and one from girls who got highest marks are selected and prizes are given to them.
The main goal is to encourage all students who are participate to the programme to build up their willing to come to the university and show them that how university life is.

University Explorers’ Club, being a collection of nature loving undergraduates from University of Peredeniya, has completed its thirty five years history in 2007. UEC is starting its hike season with the arrival of new entrants to the university each year. Usually adventurous, joyful and fruitful season lasts for eight- ten months and finishing with a memorable camp fire session which is held in upper Hanthana magnificent environment.
UEC stars his season with AGM appointing the organizers as its committee of the year. Any Pera undergrad is welcome for this event and there a small introduction will be given to the audience who are willing to participate the events throughout the year.Then the season begins with traditional first hike for Hantana to boost the aspiration of the new joinees. In any of the event experienced old members can be found to guide the new generation and the keep the disciplines and the motivation of the club.Then the game begins and the members will be back on their foot to serve “walking is living”, the theme of the club.
The unexpected, unplanned event they meet throughout the year keep them going the making the members together as a UEC family.Mostly UEC members even after passing out from the university still appreciate the family spirit they had during their time at UEC.
Any new member can express their views, exchange their feelings at the weekly meeting and that will help UEC to search new paths of the world and the keep updated to the ver changing world.The every hike is promoted via a yellow colored poster in advance throughout the university and the members and the other university society can get to know about UEC events. Most of the past events and interesting moments is published in the UEC notice board which is at WUS-University of Peradeniya.To gain the maximum benefit of being a Pera undergrad any one should be a part of UEC family and experience the difference.

Hanthana Exploration
Hanthana Exploration was done Last sunday(14th of sep) with about 80 UEC members. It is happy to say that I also could get part of the Hike. More than 40 Seanior members were there. And also lot of new faces also were there. Exploration was Started from faculty of Science at 8.30 a.m and could finish around 5.0 p.m. Hanthana Exploration is a good start for the new hike season.
After that Peacock Exploration also done last sunday. But unfortunatly I couldn't attend to that event. Now they are planning to do the Hunasgiriya Exploration on next sunday.

The Journey is going to begin
Yes...The journey is going to begin in next couple of days. Most probably it will be started on 14th of this month. The new commitee has commenced and they are ready to begin the new Hike season. Any student in the university of Peradeniya can be join with them. All of commitee members are looking for welcome all guys from university of Peradeniya. So I'd like you guys to invite go and feel the natural beuty with Explorers. It's fun.. but more than something is there.

New Hike Season - 2008/2009
With the start of new academic year 2008/2009 They(UEC, commitee for hike season 2008/2009) will organize events(hikes) in near future. A new commitee will be commenced in near future becase the past commitee have to be resigned now. Join with the explorers and have the best expeariance in university life.
Who are the explorers
There was few undergraduates at the university of Peradeniya who was willing to have adventure experiance in 36 years before this. At the time there was an accident at near to Ginigathhena. Then imediately they went to see that incident. There after they got used to explore mountains and waterfalls in their free times. As Dr. Herath says, that was the establishment of the University Explorers Club in Peradeniya .
Now there are more than 1000 peoples all over the world who got the membership in the Club. And now University Explorers Club(UEC) is the most active society in the university.
There are 15 peaples who are organizing those events and those are called as commitee. They organizes a hike or any event in every weekends during a hike season. A hike season may be 7 or 8 months. So I could spend my free times at the university time with UEC people and could attend to about 25 events.
